RCA accepts Confession of Belhar as a gift
(20 July 2010)
In early June the Reformed Church in America (RCA) met for their 204th Session of the General Synod. In 2009 the Synod voted to accept Belhar as confession, but a two thirds majority for a final vote adoption from the Presbyteries were needed. The decision to adopt was referred then back to the Presbyteries for study and a vote. In March of this year it was reported to Synod that a two thirds majority of the Presbyteries voted in favour. The first order of business for this Synod was to consider the Belhar Confession for adoption.

Bible Studies of World Communion of Reformed Churches in June 2010

These Bible studies invite you to think about the call for church unity and to discuss it with others—whether in your congregation or in your Bible study group at the Uniting General Council of the World Communion of Reformed Churches in June 2010.
They are intended for use at five daily Bible study sessions during the Uniting General Council. But they are also meant for wider use within the churches that will compose the new communion. We invite delegates and participants in the council to engage in all five of these studies with others, in their congregations or communities, before or after the council meets.

CAP Camp 2010 in South Africa

CAP 2010 will be one of the most exiting events on your youthcalender.
South Africa is hosting the FIFA World Cup, but more importantly, young people will come to Southern Africa to come and share, serve and celebrate.
CAP 2010 is a movement of young people and youth pastors, coming from Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa, United Protestant Church in Belgium, Presbyterian Church in Rwanda, Evangelical Church in Germany (Evangelisch Reformiert Kirche), Evangelical Church in Congo (Eglise Evangelique du Congo-Brazzavile).
The theme for 2010 will be Living Belhar !

Streeksinode Phororo vergader

Die streeksinode Phororo het gedurende 7 April tot 11 April 2010 plaasgevind in die VG Gemeente Rainbow in die Ring van Upington.
Die geleentheid was 'n geseënde geleentheid waarby al 40 gemeentes teenwoordig was. Prof Nico Koopman, dekaan van die Fakulteit Teologie aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch het die sinode toegespreek oor die gebruik van rituele en simbole in die Kerk terwyl Dr Dawid Kuyler, scriba van die Algemene Sinode die sessies oor die Geïntegreerde Bedieningsmodel en die Belydenis van Belhar gefasiliteer het.

John Calvin's legacy and the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa

The year 2009 has been designated as the year in which Reformed Churches all over the world are celebrating the 500 birthday of John Calvin. Many URCSA members are asking themselves who was Calvin, what did he do for us and why we should celebrate his 500th birthday. There are many more people in Reformed Churches in Africa who have not heard about John Calvin and yet they do not have a slightest idea of what he has done in the Reformation in particular for church governance. To our members who have these questions I present the short summary of who Calvin was and why should we celebrate his legacy.
