The Archives of the Dutch Reformed Church, also known as ABID (Archives and Management Information Service), renders a service to the ministers, presbyteries, congregations and officers in the various church and synodical offices. These services include assistance with information and research needs to members of the DRC and to the general public (within specific parametres).

Which include the conservation, electronic indexing, and making available of the information, contained within official documents and material of the General Synod, and regional synods of Western Transvaal, Northern Synod, Highveld and Eastern Transvaal, Southern and Western Cape, Northern Cape en Eastern Cape and the Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa. This service also includes the conservation of biographical and historical material, artefacts and collections received from the ministers, congregations, presbyteries and committees of the DRC.

Which include support and advice to administrators in die church offices of the congregations on the administration of membership. The original baptismal, marriage, and membership registers of the various congregations are handed to ABID for safekeeping and for administrative purposes.

Which include support to church administrators with the management of their congregational offices. Professional training is provided for the church personnel to help them function in the unique environment of a church office. These training sessions, in accordance to the official handbook, is presented by dr Johan Froneman, Director ABID, and include a practical session on the important legal requirements of the government in connection with Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000, and the National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999.

- to provide in the management information needs of members functioning within the various structures of the DRC;
- to provide assistance to ministers, students, and researchers with research and research information within the scope and parameters of ABID and the DRC; and
- to supply a weekly e-news service to ministers, missionaries, church offices, consisting of articles that appeared in the daily SA newspapers, primarily on the DRC but also on other relevant subject matter. It is e-mailed on request.
